As we study the Book of Mormon this coming year, we invite you to share your perspectives as Latter-day Saint women. We hope to share these essays to further enrich our study, understanding, and devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Essay writers may take a wide variety of approaches to explore LDS women’s relationship with the lived experience of the gospel. Your essays may range from personal narrative to scholarly research. These essays may address questions such as the following:
~ What Christlike examples have you seen in the world around us? What does discipleship look like in our day?
~ What personal experiences have you had with the Book of Mormon? How has it shaped your discipleship?
~ How can LDS women approach reading the Book of Mormon in a productive and thoughtful way? How does this book of scripture– written for our modern times– help you navigate the contemporary world?
~ How has the gospel helped you overcome obstacles unique to our contemporary world? How have you learned to see Christ as an exemplar for our time?
~ What experiences have you had with the ongoing restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ? How has your Christian discipleship functioned outside church structures and activities?
These essays can be a mix of narrative, theology, research, and intuition. Writers will work with our editors to produce well-written and thoughtful essays. Each essay will be between 1,000 and 2,500 words and will be developed in drafts (first draft – feedback – revisions – final).
We welcome new writers! Prospective writers should submit a brief 100 – 300 word description of a proposed essay, along with a writing sample to essays@ldswomenproject.com Please send essay descriptions on or before March 15. We will be accepting and publishing completed essays throughout the year.
